Perseverance, Resilience and Struggle of Homeless and Poverty Stricken Students [ untitled image of homeless child].(2023). https://www.salon.com/2016/06/19/criminalizing_poverty_homeless_in_harlem_complain_of_nypd_harassment/ “Since 2008 , the number of homeless students identified by public schools each year has increased by more than 100%, from approximately 680,000 to 1,384,000 students in 2019”   (Cai, 2020) This week’s module readings and documentary was very heartbreaking to learn about. I think for a lot of people we hear about homelessness and poverty on the news but do not realize that people in the same community as us could be struggling. Throughout this module there were two themes that I felt really stuck out to me, Perseverance/Resilience and Suffering. These young teenagers are incredibly brave for being able to survive and live on their own without the support of parents and family. I know how important it is to have family around espe...

Eating Disorders [Eating Disorder Awareness Week].[2018].[Learning Support Centre].https://learningsupportcentre.com/eating-disorder-awareness-week-26th-february-4th-march/ I feel that this week I really connected personally with the topic being discussed, mental health. Mental health is a term that is being used more and more in society due to more transparency, awareness and accessibility to help. A couple of years ago, mental health was just a topic talked about in health class for a week or two and nothing more. Now, with the power both positive and negative of social media, it is becoming a more important topic that a majority of people struggle with in different ways. Personally, I have struggled with mental health in the last couple years and have since realized that even before mental health was really talked about openly, I struggled as well but did not realize it at the time. There are so many forms of mental health and for this week’s blog I researched and wrote about ...

[Cyberbullying: adults can be victims too].(2021).CSUltimates. https://csultimates.com/blog/2021/07/cyberbullying-adults-can-be-victims-too/ The Importance of Cyberbullying Education “ Cyberbullying is the use of digital media (such as apps, text messages, and websites) to intimidate, upset, or harm someone. It includes repeatedly sending, posting, or sharing negative, harmful, or mean content about someone else on purpose.”(Teachers’ Essential Guide to Cyberbullying Prevention, 2023).  Cyberbullying is one of the fasted growing and used forms of bullying around. It is one of the easiest forms of bullying due to how accessible it is for people to communicate with each other now. Although cyberbullying can be done by anyone of any age it is especially crucial that as educators we try and prevent cyberbullying and bullying of any kind among the younger generation who are our students. It is so sad and disappointing that children are still getting bullied and target...

Prevention and Putting an End to School Violence [Stop School Violence Quotes].(2023). Quotesgram. https://quotesgram.com/img/stop-school-violence-quotes/1737434/ Violence in schools is a huge issue worrying people all over the country and causing a lot of heavy discussions and debates. There are some that believe that by banning assault style weapons this can be prevented, there are others that say that by banning these weapons their second amendment right is being infringed upon. I could go on and on about the differing perspectives of American citizens. As much as there is a lot of differing opinions about assault weapons and violence in schools I think that there is one point that almost everybody could agree with. There needs to be an end to school violence around our country, students should feel safe and not scared for their lives when they are on school grounds. But, here we are in 2023 with no end in sight to this terrifying and deadly...
